Blossom Wishes (Time Garden)

BEng graduation project, Tongji University (2022) — Excellent Graduation Project.
From field research on Qinghai Tu pan-embroidery through motif analysis (including the time-heavy “pan-embroidered sunflower” as a lucky symbol), to a parametric line: Wishes × Time → lucky symbol — translating point–line–surface embroidery logic into rules, then TouchDesigner outputs: Time Flower (时光花) cards with wish/time metadata, and Time Garden Symbol and Pattern visual studies driven by fractal generation.

Concept
Extract how dots, lines, and surfaces inter-grow in pan embroidery, keep the texture of making, and fold personal variables into a symbol generation system. Patterns run through fractals; marks bind to wishes, time spent, and effort — personal lucky symbols and objects between heritage grammar and computation.
Process
- Field research — heritage (2006 national listing), craft sequence (fold, cut petals, paper ring, outline stitch, expand), visits to inheritors, villages, museums, digital-economy hubs
- Insight — composition and meaning (symmetry, point–line–surface, circular texture; auspicious, time-cost, self-proof)
- Ideation — parametric “digital lucky charms”; wish → time → symbol → product paths
- Iteration — Lucky Garden identity, generative flowers, dense circular studies
- Implement — TouchDesigner graphs and expressions for Time Flower
- Time Garden — Symbol / Pattern posters and metadata grids
